Into the Plastisphere reimagines our relations to waste, accumulation, and sport in a trashy arena. The plastisphere is a human-made plastic ecosystem which hosts a microbial community of athletes in a bodily pursuit. This physically laborious dedication reflects an ongoing process of recognising vitality, while investigating posthuman community. Working with collected waste as the primary material engages constant adaptation. Attunement to waste has emerged in the form of assembled garments, and exhaustive training that is emergent, uncertain, and incomplete. The plastisphere treasures that which has been discarded, and loves the unlovable. At its core, Into the Plastisphere negotiates community, serious attention, maintenance and respect.
